Homemade Pecan Sunflower Butter [Paleo, Vegan Friendly]

Why do I not make homemade nut butter more often? It is so easy! I was sure that I was going to burn out my mini food processor, so investing in a heavy duty one is probably a good idea, but it got the job done!

Let’s get to it!

Recipe type: Nut Butter
  • Pecans, about 2 cups
  • Sunflower seeds, about ½ cup
  • Coconut oil, ¼ cup +
  • Honey or Maple Syrup (vegan option), 1 tsp
  • Pinch of sea salt
  1. Process pecans and sunflower seeds in a food processor until finely ground
  2. Add coconut oil, sweetener, and salt; continue processing until desired consistency

That’s it! I wanted my butter on the thicker side, but if you want it to be thinner or need more oil, feel free to use more. If you want a little more sweetness, you can of course add a little more of that too. It is completely up to you.

I’ve really been enjoying this pecan and sunflower combination. Sunflower seeds are so underrated and great for thyroid health, so I’m always looking for simple ways to incorporate them into my diet. If you have any nuts or seeds you’re trying to incorporate into your diet, making your own mixed nut butter is a great way to do it!
